Youth Villages has built a national reputation for offering the most effective programs and services to help emotionally troubled children and their families. A private nonprofit organization, we provide a fully integrated continuum of counseling services and programs designed to help children with emotional and behavioral problems overcome their challenges and live successfully with their families. We believe therapy for children should be provided in the least restrictive setting possible, preferably in their own homes.

Intensive In-Home Treatment

Our intensive in-home treatment programs provide help for troubled teenagers, children and families in their own homes at times convenient for the families.

Residential Treatment

Some treatment for at-risk youth requires out-of-home help. Our residential treatment campuses and group homes offer counseling programs and constant supervision for youth with serious acting-out behaviors or who suffer from mental health issues.

Foster Care

Being a foster parent is a calling. For a child, there's nothing more important than to have a place to call home, a family to love and parents who believe in them.

Adoption

In Tennessee, the Youth Villages adoption program partners with the state Department of Children's Services to find permanent homes for the children in our care who have adoption as a goal. In the other states we serve, our counselors work with state officials to facilitate adoption for children who cannot return to their birth families.

Transitional Living

Our transitional living program provides assistance to young adults who age out of state custody or foster care. Our transitional living counselors work with young people age 17 to 22 to develop independent living skills, helping them find affordable housing, obtain healthcare, continue their education and secure a job.

Specialized Crisis Services

In Tennessee, our specialized crisis counselors respond to emergency calls for children experiencing psychiatric emergencies. Counselors are available around the clock to assess and evaluate children in crisis and to make appropriate referrals to counseling services, at risk youth treatment programs and other resources.

Project Safe Place

Through Project Safe Place, Youth Villages operates the only emergency shelter for runaway and homeless teens in Memphis and the Mid-South. Staffed 24 hours a day, the shelter offers help for troubled teenagers age 13 to 17 who are seeking respite from family problems or who find themselves in a dangerous situation.

Mentoring

The young people in our program need positive adult role models. Our mentoring program works to pair caring, responsible adults with children and teens in Tennessee and Georgia.

Youth Villages offers Paid Summer Internships (40 hrs/wk for 10 weeks) or Fall and Spring Internships for Credit
