Job Description:Eckerd is seeking live-in Youth Counselors for our Residential Program in Candor, NC.
The Youth Counselor is a positive, supportive role model who guides and influences group activities on a consistent basis that enhances the youth's confidence and self-esteem. Youth Counselor/Teachers ensure the progress and welfare of each client and the group through therapeutic and educational programs. Responsible for staff secure supervision during the morning and evenings.
Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral services, or outdoor recreation specialties required. Will be required to obtain certification as a certified cognitive behavioral group facilitator within one year of employment. Direct child care in a therapeutic/rehabilitative setting preferred. Experience in outdoor recreation preferred. Ability to travel about property, through wilderness terrain. Must be able to pass evaluation of physical restraint techniques and written certification exam, and use approved techniques as needed. Must be able to work a minimum shift of 5 concurrent 24 hour periods. Employee must obtain valid driver's license or state identification in the state in which they are employed within 90 days of hire.
