Alexander Youth Network provides quality professional treatment to children with serious emotional and behavioral problems. We deliver an effective and efficient array of services, enabling children and their families to exercise self-determination, achieve their potential, and find long-lasting positive ways to connect with their community.

Alexander has combined a variety of treatment programs into a complete Service Array; a series of programs that work together from start to finish. As a child grows and improves, we can offer the stability of customized treatment to keep intact his safety net of friends and the professionals he has grown to trust. Positive changes have a chance to take root and he learns new patterns and behaviors. He improves faster and the results last longer.

With a Service Array

Because relationships have a chance to stay intact, positive changes take root and children learn new patterns and behaviors. They improve faster and the results last longer

Services

Diagnostic and Outpatient Services

Diagnostic assessment is available to those new to the mental health system and who need a determination for treatment, and for those whose assessment has been ordered by the courts. Assessments are conducted through Alexander's Outpatient Therapy Services which can also provide psychological testing, therapy and other services.

Community Programs

Community programs are those services delivered in the home and community. They include such services as Multi-systemic Therapy, Day Treatment and Treatment Foster Care. Programs focus on building family supports to help maintain an emotionally disturbed child in the least restrictive environment possible, and on training caregivers to manage behaviors, handle medications and other sometimes difficult tasks.

Residential Programs

Alexander provides a 30-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) at its main Thermal Road campus in Charlotte. The program serves severely disturbed children needing 24-hour supervision by a nursing staff. Typical treatment duration is four to six months. Alexander provides a continuum of services to children and families that covers most treatment intensity levels from one step down from inpatient hospitalization to periodic outpatient therapy and/or medication management.
