Vision

The vision of ABC of NC is that all children with autism spectrum disorder reach their full potential through effective teaching.

Mission

ABC of NC is committed to providing quality individualized educational services based on evidence-based practices in the field of autism treatment to children with autism spectrum disorders and their families.

Hope for a Lifetime of Learning

ABC of NC Child Development Center provides hope for children with autism who deserve access to the best possible educational services. ABC of NC is the largest school in North Carolina focused exclusively on autism programming and the only center to feature transitional classrooms that include typically developing peers. ABC is committed to providing quality individualized educational services based on evidence-based practices to children with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Our philosophy is to teach children basic skills by creating an environment that motivates them to communicate and play with their teachers and transfer these skills as soon as possible to peers, siblings, and other adults.

ABC offers a variety of programs and services proven effective for children with autism:

  • Group Instruction: targets individual needs while children learn alongside peers
  • One-on-one Services: designed for students who need intensive individualized intervention
  • Social Skills Group: meets weekly to develop language and social skills
  • Family Sessions and Parent Education: demonstrates teaching techniques that parents can replicate in the home
  • Consultative Services: offered to parents who wish to assist their child by incorporating evidence-based practices in the home, in the child's primary school, or in another community setting
  • Summer Education Program: combines the fun of a summer day camp with evidence-based educational programs targeting peer and play interaction

ABC of NC welcomes community volunteers to aid in a variety of roles around our school. We have the following volunteer opportunities available:

  • Front desk/reception
  • Special events
  • Teacher's aid
  • School-wide support
  • Facility support (maintenance/landscaping)
