Faith Dearman, a graduate of Appalachian State University, is the NCSPA Professional Learning Committee Chair. This year, she grew the committee from a one-woman show to a committee of nine people, including graduate students and a university professor. When leading the PL Committee, Faith has embodied shared leadership, and she empowers committee members to engage their interests in order to lead professional learning work for NCSPA members. Faith has helped school psychologists enhance their professional skills by supporting 20 NCSPA professional learning events this year. Additionally, she has taken a leadership role in organizing and preparing for NCSPA’s Lunch, Learn, and Collaborate sessions. Her work in creating standardized and automated processes has allowed for the LLCs to be a sustainable monthly offering.
