Dr. JP Jameson was recently featured in the latest College of Arts and Sciences newsletter. In the Adapting to COVID video, that you can watch here, he speaks about the contract tracing course he has been leading this year.
Hearing about the need for contract tracers, he thought of a way for psychologists to help: taking the principles of clinical interviews and applying it to contract tracing. One is trying to get sensitive information from those in great distress by navigating the transtheoretical model of pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance. This course is helping students get ready to be hired out of the gate by local health departments, while also developing critical skills for those who wish to go into clinical practice.
