Sidney Murray Presents at Southeastern Psychological Association

First-year Experimental Master's graduate student, Sidney Murray, presented a poster at the annual conference of the Southeastern Psychological Association entitled "The Influence of Female-Athlete Images on Social Physique Anxiety" co-authored with her mentor Doris Bazzini (Experimental Faculty), and Chris Dickinson (Experimental Faculty).

The study examined the relationship between visual fixations on body parts (e.g., head, torso) and social physique anxiety when women are exposed to images of professional female athletes displayed performing their sport vs. in sexualized poses. Other co-authors included Experimental Graduate Program alumni, Alison Cooke, Jessica Udry, and Amanda Pepper.
