Drs. Will Canu and JP Jameson featured in The Lancet

Drs. Will Canu and John Paul Jameson, along with Clinical Psychology Master's alumnae Ellen Steele and Michael Denslow utilized data from 2008 in Kentucky's State Emergency Department Database (SEDD), to examine the likelihood of three psychological disorder diagnoses related to Mountaintop removal coal mining (MTR). the team found that ER cases from MTR-active regions were 37% more likely to include a diagnosis of depression, and were 41% more likely to include a substance-use disorder diagnosis. Their study has been published in the Community Mental Health Journal, and their findings have recently been highlighted in a news story in The Lancet: Respiratory Health journal.
