Academic Positions

Founder & Co-Director, HR Science Research Team

Interests

My interests revolve around the application of science, psychology, data, and technology to solve problems, help individuals make positive changes, and improve peoples' lives.

  • Co-directing the HR Science Research Team with Dr. Yalcin Acikgoz, which is currently focused on the following projects:
    • Understanding and improving how undergraduate psychology students can leverage the competencies developed in their coursework to their careers by:
      • Identifying the work-ready competencies psychology students gain throughout their undergraduate coursework
      • Mapping work-ready competencies of undergraduate psychology majors to O*NET occupations and careers
      • Creating an interactive, web-based tool to help career advising for undergraduate psychology majors
      • Developing psychology students’ ability of how to articulate their work-ready credentials to potential employers
    • Collaborating with Dr. Tim Ludwig and partnering with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) to explore how analytics can be used with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) data to keep people safe at their jobs.
      • This project is the first formal attempt by safety researchers to implement and document the strategic application of data mining and analytics techniques for HSE data.
  • Outside of my work on HR Science, I am also working in the area of college access and applying evidence-based practices and a variety of research and analytic methodologies to:
    • Increase the academic performance and preparation for postsecondary education of high school students
    • Increase the rate of high school graduation and enrollment in postsecondary education
    • Increase high school students' and their families' knowledge of postsecondary education options, preparation, and financing
